Consumer Reports testers ranked this as the 18th best tougher-job cordless drill/driver, with an evaluation score that puts it in the "good" range. The speed is excellent, the power is very good, the handling and low noise level (at the user's ear) are good, and the run time and charge time are fair. The tool weight is 5.5 pounds, the battery pack has 18 volts, the battery type is NiCd, the battery recharge time is 3-6 hours, and there are two speed ranges.

 Good Drill (2009-05-27)
This is the best of the 18v Firestorm tools that I own. Been going for years with no problems, taking plenty of abuse along the way. My only issue is with the batteries. While the first set I had performed well for quite a while, every replacement battery I've owned (including the FSX-treme series) have been far inferior.

Decent (2008-07-15)
for the money this is a good drill. comes with a 1/2 removable chuck. this drills through plate steel easily with a dewalt bit. This drill has the torque for any homeowner and the small shops.
