About the Toolcritic

The Toolcritic was founded by ex-Yahoo technical and marketing guys that are passionate about tools. Their woodworking, carving, home improvement, construction, and other hands-on exploits in the years since they left Yahoo have driven them to purchase a wide variety of tools. Most of those purchases were from Internet vendors.

Each time the Toolcritic guys purchased a new tool, they did a heap of research using information both on and off of the Internet. They read tool reviews, articles, and news group buzz and then shared information with each other, but wondered if the results of their research might benefit other tool shoppers. Thus the idea for the Toolcritic was born.

When we can find sufficient information on a tool, the Toolcritic will provide a grade (see Toolcritic Grades). These are our subjective ratings (our opinion) of the product. You'll enjoy coming to your own conclusions and we'd love to get your feedback.
